Years ago, I took my parents on safari in Tanzania. With limited space in my backpack, I found that my coffee gear was bulky, unwieldy, and difficult to use. Upon our return, I formed silicone and plastic and glue and eventually a 3D printer to create an adaptor that utilized my Nalgene bottle as the brewer. But I continued to think, and eventually came up with a thick leather pourover cone I called the "pourover holster." This went through many iterations until one day I figured the whole thing out. And it became the Expedition Brewer.
It was a journey that took many years, but this is the lightest-weight and most compact pourover setup on the planet. Weighing under 50 grams (1.75 ounce), the canvas, copper and wood packs down to 7" x 4.5" x .5" thick (180mm x 115mm x 12mm). Copper snaps create a little duck canvas package to keep all your gear in one place (it even fits this AWS travel scale and enough cone filters to get you through the most grueling expedition). The Expedition Brewer comes with the canvas jacket, laminated copper cone, paper filter (I recommend these), and wood stay. Available in your favorite colors. The more you use it, the better it gets. Made in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.
